Reservas Votorantim is a Brazilian company specializing in land management and nature-based solutions for traditional and green economy businesses.
Based in São Paulo, the company operates nationwide and is present in three of Brazil’s six biomes: Atlantic Forest, Cerrado and Pantanal, managing over 130,000 hectares of conserved areas. Como aproveitar o potencial do segundo maior bioma do Brasil e, ao mesmo tempo, conservá-lo? A resposta para parte desse desafio veio com uma nova oportunidade, o REDD+ Cerrado, iniciativa pioneira no país, fruto da parceria da Reservas Votorantim, CBA – Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio e as consultorias Ecosystem Regeneration Associates (ERA) e ECCON Soluções Ambientais.
Os créditos do REDD+ Cerrado estão disponíveis para o mercado voluntário de carbono e para empresas que queiram fortalecer as suas metas de sustentabilidade e ESG. Em 2023, fizemos a primeira venda de créditos do REDD+ Cerrado, totalizando R$ 4,3 milhões.

First carbon credit project in the Brazilian Cerrado
How to tap the potential of Brazil’s second largest biome without harming it? The answer to part of this challenge came with a new opportunity: REDD+ Cerrado, this pioneering initiative in the country stems from a partnership between Reservas Votorantim, CBA – Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio, and the consultancy firms Ecosystem Regeneration Associates (ERA) and ECCON Soluções Ambientais.
REDD+ Cerrado credits are available for the voluntary carbon market and for companies aiming to strengthen their ESG goals. In 2023, we conducted the first sale of REDD+ Cerrado credits, for the sum of R$ 4.3 million.
REDD Pantanal e REDD Carbonflor
New businesses for Reservas Votorantim
In 2023, the initial steps were taken to develop REDD Pantanal, a project for generating forest carbon credits under the REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation), in área os Fazenda Bodoquena, program on the ranch, which is already under assurance.
Similarly, a REDD+ project was designed for the Cerrado area of the ranch, registered as REDD+ Carbonflor, replicating the successful model applied at Legado Verdes do Cerrado, managed by Reservas Votorantim in Northern Goiás. It is expected that the project credits will be certified by 2024.

Novos negócios da Reservas Votorantim
Em 2023, foram dados os primeiros passos para o desenvolvimento do REDD Pantanal, um projeto para geração de crédito de carbono florestal na modalidade REDD+ (Redução de Emissões por Desmatamento e Degradação Florestal) na área da Fazenda Bodoquena, já em processo de verificação.
Neste mesmo formato, também foi elaborado um projeto de REDD+ na área de Cerrado da fazenda, registrado como REDD+ Carbonflor, replicando o modelo de sucesso aplicado no Legado Verdes do Cerrado, área gerida pela Reservas Votorantim no Norte Goiano. A expectativa é de que, ao longo de 2024, os créditos dos projetos sejam certificados.

Career development policy has gained robustness with more transparent and decisive evaluation processes and feedbacks.
The technical staff of Reservas, which grew in 2023, continued to be encouraged to seek training, being driven by the portfolio of benefits, which among them includes the incentive in education and professionalization.
The focus on people yielded a rare achievement in human resources in private initiatives: 100% participation in climate research. The result showed the potential, as well as gave an even more effective way for the company to deal with the challenges.
Territories managed
Reservas Votorantim is currently managing two environmental reserves and a space for selling native plants. It also has a partnership for the development of carbon projects at Fazenda Bodoquena. It has over 130,000 hectares under its management.
Legado das Águas
Created in 2012, this is the largest private Atlantic Forest reserve in Brazil, covering an area of 31,000 hectares in the municipalities of Juquiá, Miracatu and Tapiraí, in Vale do Ribeira, in the São Paulo state countryside. Located just over 100 kilometers from São Paulo city, Legado das Águas is at an advanced stage of conservation like few other areas in Brazil, with the Juquiá River crossing it from end to end. Legado das Águas’ mission to establish a new model of private protected area, generating social, environmental and economic benefits in a sustainable manner. This is achieved by balancing forest protection and scientific research with green economy activities such as native plant production, public use and carbon credit generation through a novel Payment for Environmental Services methodology, including forest carbon, in the Atlantic Forest.
Legado Verdes do Cerrado
A 32,000-hectare reserve belonging to CBA – Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio, located in Niquelândia, Goiás, about three hours from Brasília. Legado Verdes do Cerrado combines conventional and new economy activities to create value and save the forest through Reservas Votorantim’s multiple land use business model. Approximately 80% of the reserve consists of native Cerrado and is divided into two cores.
At the Núcleo Engenho core, spanning 22,000 hectares, scientific research and environmental education activities are conducted, along with new economy activities such as plant production, Legal Reserve offsets, and the first REDD+ project in the Brazilian Cerrado. In the remaining 5,000 hectares, integrated cattle ranching and agriculture operations are conducted.
The 5,000-hectare Santo Antônio Serra Negra core contains virgin native Cerrado savannah vegetation and is partly bordered by the Lago da Serra lake.
Fazenda Bodoquena
Located in Miranda and Corumbá, MS, this territory spans 74,000 hectares, of which 50,000 are conserved areas. The farm is divided into two cores: Miranda, home to the Cerrado biome, and Corumbá, with the Pantanal biome. Traditional economic activities such as cattle ranching are conducted, and since 2021, Reservas Votorantim has been exploring the feasibility of green economy businesses to generate revenue through sustainable natural resource use, alongside traditional activities.
In 2023, Reservas Votorantim began implementing the multiple land use model in the territory, developing a project to generate forest carbon credits under the REDD+ Pantanal form, currently undergoing assurance, and another project called REDD+ Carbonflor in the Cerrado area of the farm, currently in the certification phase. Initial socio-environmental actions following Reservas Votorantim’s business model have also begun.
Pátio Caeté
Pátio Caeté is a center for selling plants and supplies for landscaping based on Brazilian biodiversity, serving as a distribution center for plants produced at Legado das Águas. Managed by Reservas Votorantim, Pátio Caeté aims to meet the demand for native and often rare species that provide environmental and economic benefits to landscaping and ecological rehabilitation projects.

Biodiversity center
The Biodiversity Centers of the Legado das Águas and Legado Verdes do Cerrado have been increasingly prepared to be an important differential for the performance of Votorantim Reserves in the segments of landscaping and ecological restoration.
Ecological rehabilitation
Through the Biodiversity Center of Legado das Águas, in 2023 the company sponsored six voluntary rehabilitation projects for companies like Deode, Nexway, Sugar Cane Conference and DB Shenker. This planting was geared towards Conservation Units in São Paulo state that require rehabilitation.
Legal Reserve
This business model led to the strengthening of na important partnership in 2023. Cerradinho Participações, one of the largest ethanol producers in Brazil, increased the number of hectares leased in Legado das Águas, in area managed by Reservas Votorantim.
This partnership is a significant step forward for RV to showcase its solutions to agribusiness and industry, and through the products and services available in its portfolio, help entrepreneurs in these sectors who need to adjust their practices or make their journey more sustainable.
Scientific research
In 2023, the Legados’ research notices were formatted with specific thematic axes to generate data for the creation of new products. In addition, new partnerships, especially public-private ones, are focused on research with fauna and flora as an opportunity for environmental assets to generate revenue for municipalities, through nature observation tourism.
Public use
The Environmental Study in the Legado das Águas in 2023 was one of the great highlights. It received over 400 students during the year, the result of the visit of seven educational institutions. At Legado Verdes do Cerrado, three events were held with external audiences, including ticket sales.
Venue rental
With hotel structure, auditorium and restaurant, Reservas Votorantim offers the Legado das Águas to the market as an option for corporate events and audiovisual productions such as fashion editorials, advertising campaigns or even reality shows. In 2023, the highlight was a corporate event with influencers from Columbia, an American sportswear company, for a company event, #ColumbiaTrip.
Consulting
In 2023 we held three major consultancies, they are:
Reflora CBA Project, an initiative of CBA – Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio, aimed at reforesting degraded areas of Legal Reserve or Permanent Protection Areas (APP).
For AngloGold Ashanti, a multinational mining company, hired Reservas Votorantim to develop a Multiple Land Use Management Plan for the municipality of Crixás, GO.
For CCR Group – a Brazilian infrastructure, transport and services concession company and one of the leaders in highway management in Brazil. The contract was to develop a Carbon Neutralization Proposal for CCR RioSP, under the Carbon Zero Program of the National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT). The program is in its initial phase, with progress expected in 2024.

Who is the controller of your personal data?
Reservas Votorantim, a company enrolled with the Taxpayers’ Registry CNPJ/MF under n. 23613510/0001-30, with headquarters at Rua Manuel Bandeira, 261, 1 floor, Vila Leopoldina, State of São Paulo, is the company controlling the personal data processed within the scope of this Privacy Policy. For the purposes of the applicable legislation, “controller” is who is in charge of decisions related to the processing of personal data. With whom do we share your personal data?
Reservas Votorantim may share your personal data with third parties, business partners, companies from the same economic group as Votorantim or companies controlled by Votorantim which are relevant to enable the use of the Site and other Platforms by the Users or to enable the provision of services to the Client. Such sharing occurs based on the following criteria and for the purposes described below:
Service providers or business partners: We may share your personal data with service providers hired by Reservas Votorantim to (a) provide operational management software or other information technologies for management and registration of Clients. Such agents receive your personal data with the specific purpose of providing services to Reservas Votorantim and do not have any rights to use your data with exception of this hypothesis.
Request from a competent authority: Reservas Votorantim may also share your personal data with third parties (including government agencies) in order to answer to investigations, judicial measures, judicial proceedings, or to investigate, prevent or adopt measures related to illegal activities, suspected fraud or situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or if otherwise required by legislation.
For how long will we keep your personal data?
We store and keep your information: (i) for as long as required by law; (ii) until the end of the processing of personal data, as mentioned below; or (iii) for as long as necessary to preserve the legitimate interests of Reservas Votorantim. Thus, we will process your data, for example, during the applicable statutes of limitation or for as long as necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
• The processing of personal data shall end in the following cases:

We are committed to delivering a safe and reliable Site for you, and guarantee we take the necessary measures to provide a better experience in this sense.
The Site is a safe place for us to provide an environment in which any data transmission is confidential and safe. This Site uses several physical, electronic and administrative procedures to protect the confidentiality of your personal data. The access to your personal information is restricted and only the IT support team of Reservas Votorantim, its affiliates and its service providers who absolutely need to access for specific purposes are granted access to your personal data.
